Anxious? Activate your anterior cingulate cortex with a little meditation (6/16/2013)

Worry requires you to think about the future. You can’t worry about the present, you can be miserable in the present, but you don’t worry about it. Turning off the future orientation, at least short term, helps. The brain has a real hard time (at a subconscious level) telling the difference between what is real and what we are imagining. Focusing it on “now” works. Honest.
