Talking Changes Minds: the Effect of CBT on Depression

I have often said we can make changes in either direction with patterns of thinking. The depressive triad: Negative thoughts about yourself, others and the future, will in time make changes in your brain functioning, just as changing those patterns will. Think as badly about yourself as you can for long enough and you will end up depressed. Unfortunately, it appears from this study it doesn’t effect the Amygdala and some emotional functioning, so it’s like trying to pedal a bike in low gear, still, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the tool we have right now.
