Little Things Mean a Lot (psychologytoday.com)

December 26, 2011

This one is great. Marriages aren’t ruined by one mistake, but many are killed either by neglect or the death of a thousand cuts. Choose to be married every day. Don’t take it for granted and don’t expect it to just “settle down” because everybody expects a marriage to turn into a cold truce over time. There, I’m done preaching. Now get out there and “be” married.

choosing to make the ‘right’ choice everyday is really hard sometimes. to choose to be married when it’s easier to just look for love in all the wrong places is difficult. i know that when i put effort into my marriage it is better; my husband and i are happier. sometimes it’s just so easy to go down the wrong road…allowing all the little misunderstandings to build up a wall between my husband and myself. even love is a choice. so, i must choose to love my husband and be married to my husband each day, as well as choose to participate in my marriage?! how come nobody tells you what hard work marriage is before you are married? good article. it definitely rings truth!
