This is fascinating. I am always hesitant to generalize studies of the drinking patterns of English teens to Amish youth, but I can’t help but be tempted to see how this could work in an Amish context. In particular, considering the peer culture, the difficulty with maintaining opposite gender relationships in a gender-segregated culture, this is intriguing. I have a topic for discussion in class next week.
